Terms of Service
Last updated: June 2026
BikeID is a Digital Bicycle Passport ecosystem based on blockchain technology, designed for the creation, management, verification and preservation of bicycle certificates.
BikeID.eu operates primarily as a demonstration and presentation website of the BikeID technology.
By accessing or using this website, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you should not use the website.
1. The BikeID Ecosystem
BikeID technology includes BikeID Platform and BikeID Wallet.
- BikeID Platform allows authorized operators to create smart contracts, mint NFT certificates, update certificates, transfer tokens, burn tokens, generate PDF certificates, verify certificates, manage stolen bicycle records and notarize documents.
- BikeID Wallet allows users to create or recover a wallet, receive BikeID certificates, view certificates, open PDF files, view images, videos and 3D models, and verify certificates on Polygon.
2. Demonstration Environment
BikeID.eu is intended to demonstrate the features and capabilities of the BikeID ecosystem.
Public visitors may access informational and read-only sections of the website, including viewer, inventory, stolen registry and token-related pages where available.
Public visitors cannot create certificates, upload content, mint NFTs, update tokens, burn tokens, transfer certificates, access administrative functions or perform blockchain operations through the public website.
Operational functions are restricted to authorized personnel and protected environments.
3. Customer Deployments
BikeID technology may be licensed, customized, cloned, configured or deployed for third-party customers, including manufacturers, bicycle brands, builders, dealers and other authorized organizations.
Each customer deployment may operate independently under its own domain name, branding, infrastructure, privacy policy and terms of service.
BikeID.eu is not responsible for the operation, data processing activities, content, commercial practices, user management or legal compliance of independently managed customer deployments.
4. Blockchain Infrastructure
BikeID technology may use Polygon Network, IPFS, CIDGate, ERC-721 smart contracts, BikeIDFactory, BikeIDModel, BikeIDRegistry and relayer infrastructure.
Blockchain transactions are public, immutable and independent from BikeID once confirmed by the network. BikeID cannot modify, reverse, cancel or delete confirmed blockchain transactions.
5. Ownership
BikeID is not the owner, co-owner, custodian or rights holder of any bicycle, digital certificate, NFT token, media file, uploaded content or blockchain record.
Ownership of a certificate is determined exclusively by the wallet address recorded as owner on the relevant blockchain network.
BikeID acts solely as a technology provider, demonstration environment and infrastructure operator.
6. Wallets and Private Keys
BikeID Wallet is designed exclusively for the management and visualization of BikeID certificates.
BikeID does not store private keys, seed phrases, wallet passwords or biometric authentication data.
Users are solely responsible for safeguarding their devices, wallet credentials, passwords, private keys and recovery phrases. Loss of credentials may result in permanent loss of access to the wallet and associated certificates.
7. NFT Certificates
NFT certificates generated through BikeID represent digital records associated with bicycles.
BikeID certificates are technical blockchain-based records and do not, by themselves, constitute legal proof of ownership of a bicycle unless recognized together with other applicable evidence or documentation.
BikeID does not guarantee market value, resale value, financial value, compatibility with third-party platforms, visibility on external NFT marketplaces or acceptance by third-party services.
8. IPFS, CIDGate and Pinning
BikeID may use IPFS, CIDGate gateways, dedicated gateways and pinning services to store or make accessible metadata, images, videos, PDF certificates, 3D models and related certificate content.
Pinning services improve content availability but do not guarantee perpetual storage, permanent preservation or uninterrupted accessibility on decentralized networks.
Users and customer deployment operators remain responsible for preserving certificate records, TokenURIs, wallet information, blockchain references and any relevant documentation.
9. Wallet Stolen BikeID
BikeID may provide a dedicated Wallet Stolen service or stolen bicycle registry for certificates related to stolen bicycles.
When a certificate is transferred to the official BikeID Stolen Wallet, it may be marked as stolen or displayed as related to a stolen bicycle within the BikeID ecosystem.
The certificate is not burned or deleted. If the bicycle is recovered, the certificate may be returned to the legitimate owner after appropriate verification.
BikeID does not guarantee that stolen bicycle records constitute official police reports, legal findings or conclusive proof of theft.
10. Blockchain Notary
BikeID may provide blockchain-based document notarization services.
Notarization proves that a digital file generated a specific cryptographic hash at a specific time.
BikeID does not certify the legal validity, authenticity, authorship, ownership or evidentiary value of the document itself.
11. Acceptable Use
- You must not attempt unauthorized access to restricted areas of the platform.
- You must not interfere with the security, integrity or operation of the website.
- You must not upload, submit or distribute unlawful, infringing, harmful or misleading content.
- You must not violate third-party rights, including intellectual property, privacy or confidentiality rights.
- You must not misuse the website, blockchain infrastructure, APIs, wallets or related technical services.
12. Third-Party Services and Infrastructure
BikeID may rely on third-party providers and decentralized infrastructure, including hosting providers, cloud services, email services, RPC providers, Polygon Network, IPFS infrastructure, CIDGate services, security providers, monitoring tools, wallet software and other technical providers.
BikeID is not responsible for outages, interruptions, policy changes, incompatibilities, delays, errors or failures caused by third-party services or decentralized networks.
13. Limitation of Liability
The website and related demonstration services are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, BikeID shall not be liable for:
- blockchain failures;
- network congestion;
- wallet malfunctions;
- lost credentials;
- user errors;
- smart contract interactions;
- IPFS availability issues;
- gateway outages;
- Polygon network events;
- decentralized storage limitations;
- third-party infrastructure failures;
- temporary or permanent unavailability of content or records.
BikeID does not warrant that the website or technology will be uninterrupted, error-free, permanently available or compatible with all third-party systems.
14. Service Changes
BikeID may modify, improve, suspend, restrict or discontinue portions of the website or demonstration services at any time, including for technical, security, business or legal reasons.
15. Privacy
Personal data processing is described in the BikeID Privacy Policy available at Privacy Policy.
16. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by Italian law.
Any dispute arising from or related to these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Venice, Italy, except where mandatory consumer protection laws provide otherwise.
